LEDBETTER, TX— Over the weekend, trainer Heath Taylor surpassed the $25 million mark in earnings, becoming only the fourth trainer in American Quarter Horse racing history to do so.
The other trainers who have achieved the lofty mark include active trainers Paul Jones and Blane Schvaneveldt and retired trainer and American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member Jack Brooks ($37.3 million). He is fourth on the all-time trainers list by earnings.
Taylor, based in Ledbetter, Texas, began training in 1994.
He trains world champion Stolis Winner, who sits second on the list of all-time horses by earnings. Taylor has saddled champions Fredricksburg, Illegal Memories and Vals Fortune and Grade 1 winners First Prize Leesa, Fast Talkin Val, First Carolina, Sixes Royal, WRS Special Shoe, Swingin Jess, Jess A Lil Bit More, Don Callender, Diamond Tres Seis, Zookie Street and Ima Killer Yawl.
