Stolis Winner Returns to Form in the
Dash For Cash Derby Trials
 
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—Stolis Winner, owned by Jerry Windham and trained by Heath Taylor, was the fastest qualifier with a 440-yard time of 21.225 to earn a speed index of 104 in the trials for the Grade 1, $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby over a good track on Friday night at Lone Star Park.
 
The Dash for Cash Derby will be run on Saturday, Oct. 24.
 
In his last appearance at Lone Star Park on Nov. 15, 2008, Stolis Winner was also the fastest qualifier for last year’s Grade 1, $1.15 Texas Classic Futurity, a race that he had to scratch from due to injury.
 
G. R. Carter, who also rode the final qualifier Jess Zoomin for trainer Heath Taylor, guided the 3-year-old son of Stoli to victory in the fourth of the six trials held on Friday night.
 
Mr Jess Perrier won the third trial by a ½ length in :21.374 for the second fastest clocking.
 
Racing for a partnership of Tommy Hays, Robert Touchet and Joe Gutierrez, the gelded son of Holland Ease was ridden by David Alvarez. Saddled by Touchet, Mr Jess Perrier came into the race off a fourth place effort in the Sam Houston Classic on August 22nd.
