OKLAHOMA CITY – Endless Delight was sharp in her career debut, the first trial of the evening on the second night of Heritage Place Futurity trials. The effort turned out to survive the remaining eight trials on the program, giving her the top qualifying time and advancing her to the $1,000,000 final on May 30.
Owned by Mackie Racing of Houston and trained by Heath Taylor, Endless Delight was handled by the season’s leading jockey G.R. Carter. A filly by Royal Quick Dash from the Six Fortunes mare Fortune of Delight, Endless Delight rocketed to an impressive win in her 350-yard trial, stopping the timer in 17.552 seconds over a fast track.
The other four 2-year-olds to make the Grade 1, $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity from Saturday, with qualifying times, are: The Hiway, :17.567; Thad Matta, :17.568; Happy Trick, :17.590 and Opportunity Zooms, :17.597.
Taylor also saddled Opportunity Zooms, to give him a total of three in the finals as Teller Im Speedy made the top five in the Friday night trials. Taylor’s barn sent four runners to the winner’s circle on Saturday with Separacrest and Obsessed With Corona scoring in addition to their pair of finalists.
Taylor’s training quadruple gives him 28 victories for the season. He is only nine wins behind leader Guillermo Valdivia.
Carter rode all four of the winners from the Taylor barn. He now has 70 wins for the season.
